Thanks to your support GHM is partnering with the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in a Community-Based Health Program that is transforming rural communities through preventative health and community collaboration.

Located about 20 miles southeast of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, Katani Hospital serves the rapidly growing communities of Machakos County, where access to healthcare has not kept pace with the rapid population growth. In the communities across the Athi River region, many people face barriers to lifesaving care.

Founded in 1956 by American Lutheran missionaries, the Lutheran School of Nursing in Madagascar (SEFAM) trains nurses for some of the country’s most under-resourced Lutheran hospitals. In 2005, SEFAM expanded its mission to increase the number of nursing graduates to serve the national Lutheran health system and strengthen the quality of its nursing education. Today, SEFAM is recognized by the government as one of Madagascar’s top nursing schools, thanks in no small part to your support.

As Uganda responds to the threat of Ebola, your support helps protect thousands of people through GHM’s partnership with the Lutheran Church of Uganda. This support is helping expand Ebola prevention outreach to more than 165 congregations, 42 schools, and 18 health centers.
