Leadership

Twenty-three

That’s the minimum number of doctors, nurses and midwives needed to provide adequate healthcare for 10,000 people, according to the World Health Organization. In most countries where GHM partners there are fewer than 10. GHM provides grants to help close that gap, expanding access to quality care through scholarships for nursing and midwifery students, and specialty training for medical officers and physicians. GHM grants help provide training for Community Health Workers, equipping them to mobilize communities to prevent disease and participate in grass-roots efforts in primary health care. And health professionals working with GHAP, a division of GHM, accompany our partners to enhance their governance, leadership and management for stronger health systems and improved community health.
