Congregation Resources

We can help.

Global Health Ministries (GHM) is an independent Lutheran nonprofit, a resource to international church partners and also to congregations across the U.S. Many congregations look to GHM to help them make a concrete difference in their companion relationship with churches overseas, where improving health is a priority for the church partner.

GHM connects individual members with opportunities to engage directly in mission, through hands-on service projects, timely financial support to improve health, or helping you find the intersection of a member’s expertise and an opportunity to help meet a global partner’s need.

GHM offers speakers who are delighted to share inspirational stories of impact and challenge in the context of worship, conferences, adult education, youth groups, and assemblies of any kind.

GHM’s global relationships most often start with the national Lutheran Church that manages mission hospitals, clinics and community outreach in the countries where we work. Our connections in the U.S. are not limited to Lutherans! Lutherans, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, seekers and many others grow in their faith and joy as they participate in this ministry.

Well at Ejeda Hospital, Madagascar supported by donations to GHM

A grant from Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities brought life-giving water to Ejeda Hospital in southwestern Madagascar in 2019. This new well was funded through Bethlehem’s capital campaign. - Bethlehem gives away 15% of whatever they bring in during a capital campaign for outreach.

“We learned a long time ago that we are at our best when we look beyond ourselves.”

- Pastor Kris Tostengard Michel, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities, Minneapolis

Stirring Hearts

A significant portion of the funding that helps the hands that heal comes from individuals and congregations. The generosity of congregations as well as their members helps fuel this ministry. We can’t do it without you! Some congregations choose to share a portion of monthly benevolence with GHM. Others highlight our partnership on a Sunday dedicated to celebrating mission. Still others have the capacity to provide grants from congregation foundations, or from a capital campaign. Every gift, whether $100, $1,000 or $10,000, makes a difference.

Gifts to GHM from partner congregations support the healing ministries of the church overseas. These connections help us here at home, too, stirring the hearts of members, inspiring generosity, and growing our faith.

Small groups and entire congregations across the country help the hands that heal through hands-on projects.
