Your Support is Training Madagascar’s Next Generation of Nurses

Founded in 1956 by American Lutheran missionaries, the Lutheran School of Nursing in Madagascar (SEFAM) trains nurses for some of the country’s most under-resourced Lutheran hospitals. In 2005, SEFAM expanded its mission to increase the number of nursing graduates to serve the national Lutheran health system and strengthen the quality of its nursing education. Today, SEFAM is recognized by the government as one of Madagascar’s top nursing schools, thanks in no small part to your support. Since 2005, donor generosity has supported the school’s operating budget, funded the construction of its current campus, strengthened curriculum development, and provided essential equipment and furnishings to train future nurses and laboratory technicians.

SEFAM began the 2026 academic year with 148 students preparing to become healthcare professionals. This year, the school introduced new foundational courses while continuing to provide hands-on clinical training and Christ-centered education.

Thanks to generous supporters like you, 24 students, facing significant financial barriers, received scholarships through GHM, where in addition to their studies, they receive mentoring and spiritual support. Your support also provides the necessary facility improvements and supplies to support nurses in their training.
