Classroom time at Aira Health College in Ethiopia

Nigeria WASH Training

Since 2010, GHM has partnered with the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) to support a Community-Based Primary Health Care (CB-PHC) program in northeast Nigeria. LCCN staff train Village Health Workers (VHWs) on community health practices, teaching families how to set up handwashing stations with soap and water. Each household receives a kettle and soap to promote regular handwashing. LCCN also leads training seminars, which strengthen team collaboration and build key research and professional skills.

Thanks to your generous support, GHM has already sent funds for this year to Aira Health College in Ethiopia to train 10 new students in clinical nursing and midwifery over the next three years, including support for a tutor nurse through 2027. We also recently helped the college purchase 10 laptops locally, allowing students to learn basic computer skills alongside their health training. The school shared photos of students graduating and finishing their semester — a powerful reminder of the long-term impact your involvement makes.
