A Message from Our Executive Director on the Ebola Outbreak

Heather Robinson

Executive Director

Thank you to those who have reached out asking how GHM is responding to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda. This outbreak is deeply concerning and calls for our focused attention and prayer.

We want to assure you that our team is well-prepared and brings extensive experience in outbreak response, enabling us to support partners effectively in situations like these. We pray that GHM can respond generously and in the most appropriate way given our resources and partner needs.

We are coordinating closely with our partners in the DRC, as well as neighboring Uganda, Central African Republic, South Sudan and Tanzania, to ensure they have the resources needed to remain prepared and safe, including access to appropriate PPE, supplies and communication materials.

Lastly, we ask you to pray for everyone affected. The US citizen who tested positive is a missionary physician, who along with his wife, has been practicing medicine in the affected area. These missionary physicians, along with all communities, need our prayers for an organized and compassionate response. As we all know, such viruses do not stop at borders. Let us pray for quick containment and healing for all who have come in the virus’ path and pray for all health care workers who continue to put their lives on the line to benefit the health of others.

Your support is especially important during times like these. Every gift will ensure GHM can respond quickly and provide support for frontline healthcare workers. Thank you again for your prayers, compassion, and your commitment to our ministry.
