GHM is delighted to welcome Dr. RASOARIMANANA Sahondra, CEO of SALFA, the health department of the Lutheran Church in Madagascar, as the keynote speaker for our Fall Conference October 13.  Dr. Sahondra was trained as a General Practitioner at the Faculty of Medicine of Antananarivo, Madagascar, where her doctoral thesis focused on hospital administration and finance.  A lifelong Lutheran, she has dedicated her career to serving through the Church, first at Manambaro Lutheran Hospital and clinic, where she served for 18 years, and then as national the Director of Reproductive Health for SALFA, the health department of the Malagasy Lutheran Church.  She feels uniquely prepared for her role as Director General of SALFA, to which she was appointed in 2015.  In this role, Dr. Sahondra is responsible for more than 50 health centers across Madagascar, including 9 hospitals, the Lutheran School of Nursing, and more than 40 rural clinics, dispensaries and mental health centers.  Under her leadership, SALFA is building on its successes to help improve the health of Malagasy people, even in the most remote villages, in Christ’s name.

Dr. Sahondra has two children and is married to Dr. Emmanuelson Randrianaina, a SALFA surgeon who also trains other Malagasy surgeons in fistula repair surgery.
