Empowerment of Women

When Women thrive, communities thrive.

On this Give to the Max Day, GHM has been called to focus on the empowerment of women. Together, we have the opportunity to prioritize women's healthcare in GHM's partner countries. Through education and training, your gift can help equip nurses and village health workers in rural clinics  to perform live saving procedures. Additionally, your contribution can provide:

  • Prenatal care

  • Newborn kits

  • Breast cancer screenings

  • Cervical cancer screenings

  • Housing scholarships

  • Education scholarships

  • Textbooks

  • Vaccines

We need YOUR support! GHM could not do the life changing work they do without your generosity!

Education and training of village health workers is key to the goal of self sustaining communities. This Give to the Max day, we invite you to help us respond to the extraordinary needs in GHM partner countries.

Your contribution can provide education and training for women in rural villages to become empowered medical professionals. You will truly be helping the hands that heal!

In 2008, the Lutheran Church in El Salvador  launched its village health promoter program with the goal to improve health and prevent diseases that commonly afflict the poor. One of the first promoters was a senior high school student, Nancy, who organized the first school-based health committee. Nancy established this group by gathering youth, teachers, and community members to partake. Health concerns such as HIV, diabetes, Asthma, and obesity all filter into this health committee. Interest in the school has grown extensively. In October 2016, four high schools in the La Paz district celebrated the completed training of more than 400 students! Nancy is a trailblazer and role model to many for her success in the health committee.
