Alternative Gifts

What’s an “Alternative Gift?” It’s the perfect gift for that person who seems to have everything! Alternative Gifts provide an opportunity to give a gift from your heart, in honor of someone special to you. The idea is really very simple: choose an item that is especially meaningful to you, make a donation to GHM in the amount noted for the item (you can choose “Alternative Gift” in the Designation dropdown menu on the Donate page), and print out the card to present to the person who will receive your gift, or let us know and we will mail a card to him or her. The card will share the story of your gift, and the impact it will have for someone on the other side of the world.

Consider giving gifts this year that warm the heart, and inspire change.  Explore gift options here

Amazon Smile

Did you know that if you’re an amazon.com shopper you can give to Global Health Ministries through your purchases?  AmazonSmile Foundation gives 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice.  Visit www.smile.amazon.com to learn more.

Gifts of Stock

Change lives with your gift of appreciated stocks or securities - a wonderful way to share God's gifts with Global Health Ministries. You can electronically transfer securities to GHM with the help of your broker.  Contact Bart Oothoudt at 763-586-9590 or bartoothoudt@ghm.org for the information your broker will need to make the transfer.

There are potential tax benefits when donating stock and securities that have increased in value over time.  Please let us know if you are gifting stock so we can acknowledge your gift for income tax purposes.

Employee Matching Gifts

Stretch your gift!  Many employers match donations given by employees to certain organizations or types of organizations.  Check with your employer to see whether your gift is eligible for their program.  If it is, ask them for a matching gift form, and mail the completed form to GHM at:  Global Health Ministries, 7831 Hickory Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55432.

Memorial & Tribute Gifts

Honor someone special with a gift to Global Health Ministries!  Celebrate milestone birthdays or anniversaries, or the accomplishments of a graduate, with a gift to GHM.

Memorial gifts given in remembrance of a dear friend or family member are a powerful way to honor their memory.  Contact GHM’s office if you would like to honor someone with a memorial or tribute gift at wandatutt@ghm.org, or 763-586-9590

Thrivent Choice

Choose Global Health Ministries!  If you’re a Thrivent member, you may be able to recommend where some of Thrivent Financial's charitable outreach funds go. In 2014, GHM received $17,613 from Thrivent Foundation through this program!  Call Thrivent at 1-800-847-4836 or visit www.thrivent.com for more information.

Have a Party!

Your enthusiasm for Global Health Ministries is already a gift to GHM!  Share that enthusiasm by sharing our story, and the impact of our work.  Choose to lift up Global Health Ministries itself, or a project or country that you hold in your heart, and invite your congregation or group, your friends or rotary club to hear about it.  We’re happy to provide resources to help you (including a speaker, if that would be helpful). Contact Kim Dickey if this is something you’d like to explore at kimdickey@ghm.org, or 763-586-9590

A Lovely Idea!

When Chris and Tom married they were blending two already-established households.  Rather than encouraging wedding guests to give them household items they already had, they invited guests to honor their marriage with a gift to Global Health Ministries. What a lovely idea!

Planned Giving

Legacy gifts can be expressions of thanksgiving for the extraordinary gifts God has given us, and provide resources that preserve the future of GHM’s ministry.  Plan today to help sustain GHM’s life-giving work by designating Global Health Ministries as a recipient of a will bequest, or as an owner and beneficiary of retirement funds or a life insurance policy. There can be tax benefits for your estate and heirs associated with legacy giving.  Contact Kim Dickey (kimdickey@ghm.org, or 763-586-9590) if you’d like more information about planned giving.

We hope you will let us know if you have named Global Health Ministries in your will or as a beneficiary.  We recognize this is an exceptional commitment to our ministry, and we would love the opportunity to thank you for your generosity.

Donor-Advised Funds

GHM has been the beneficiary of family-designated funds through several endowment foundations, for which we are grateful. Consider opening a Donor-Advised Fund by making a contribution now to a third-party charitable fund.  You can immediately take a tax deduction for your gift and then, when you choose, recommend Global Health Ministries as a grant beneficiary from the fund. These accounts can usually be set up within a day or two with a minimum contribution.  Contact Kim Dickey (kimdickey@ghm.org or 763-586-9590) if you’d like more information about how your family or organization can make a lasting impact through accounts like these.

100% of your gift supports Global Health Ministries’ work of helping the hands that heal around the globe.  A small portion of your donation (only 4 pennies of every dollar) is used for project administration.

In 2015, Global Health Ministries earned their third consecutive 4-star rating by Charity Navigator.  Only 14% of the charities they rate have received at least 3 consecutive 4-star evaluations, an “exceptional” designation.
