Hospice Kits

The HIV/AIDS Epidemic has added enormous challenges to health care worldwide. Missionaries, their health care worker colleagues, and patients' families in third world countries must provide daily care to AIDS patients who suffer from the symptoms of a devastating, end stage disease. There is pain, nausea, diarrhea, and skin eruptions to name a few. It is not a disease we can ignore and it is not going away. 

How can we help?

By creating this AIDS/Hospice Kit, we can provide cleanliness and comfort to someone who is suffering. By enclosing a devotional booklet in this kit, we can provide comfort and hope. And through our prayers and generosity, we can reach far into the lives of those who have been affected. 

One Hospice Kits Contains (click here to download brochure)

New or gently used items:

• 1 regular size bath towel
• 1 wash cloth

New items:

• 1 bath size bar of hand soap (wrapped) - any brand
• 1 toothbrush
• 1 toothpaste (size medium or large, or two small sample size - any brand)
• 1 "pick" comb
• 1 nail clipper
• 6 Band-Aids
• 1 jar or tube of petroleum jelly
• 1 pair of heavy-duty household gloves (kitchen type, size medium)
• 1 small devotional booklet (eg. "Portals of Prayer" or "Christ in our Home")

Assembly Instructions

1. Wrap all these items in the towel
2. Place the wrapped items in a large 2 gallon or larger "Ziploc" plastic bag
3. Include note: "AIDS/Hospice Kit". The note should be visible through the bag. 
4. Squeeze the air out of the bag before sealing.
5. Completed kits (10 to 15 kits to a box) can be mailed or delivered to GHM, 7831 Hickory Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55432.

Monetary Donations & Prayers are Appreciated

In addition to the kit, funds are needed to purchase pain medications and vitamins in the country of destination. A suggested donation of $5.00 with each kit will be a big help. Please do not include the money with the kit, but mail separately to GHM and mark Hospice Kit.

As you pack the kits, pray for the church visitation teams and medical professionals who provide spiritual and medical care and place the kits in the hands of those who are affected by AIDS.

Helpful Hints

1. Check with local hotels or hospitals about extra clean towels and wash cloths. 
2. Check with local dentists about toothbrushes and toothpaste.
3. Purchase gloves, comb, nail clippers, petroleum jelly, bar soap and Band-Aids at a local Dollar  Store.
4. Check with your church secretary for extra devotional booklets.
