needs list.
GUIDELINES
When evaluating donations for mission hospitals, we consider equipment condition, intended
use, maintenance requirements, availability of parts or accessories, and other factors. Please consider the
following suggestions when donating medical items.
For Specific Needs: Medical Supplies
Recent (within 10 years) medical textbooks are useful. However, medical journals or magazines cannot be
accepted.
Pharmaceuticals are generally not accepted (please call for specifics).
Most plastic disposable items cannot be reused and are generally not accepted.
Liquids such as cleaners, IV solutions, and medications are too difficult to ship and cannot be accepted.
For Specific Needs: Medical Equipment
If possible, all accessories and manuals should be included with equipment.
Most developing countries prefer equipment that is simple and easy to use.
Mechanical tables and equipment are preferred over equipment that is dependent upon electricity to operate.
Equipment that requires electricity to operate should function on both 50 and 60 Hz or be easily
convertible to different voltage and frequency inputs.
Medical equipment should be boxed with care for shipping. Please call us if you need recommend-ations or
assistance in this area.
Preparing Your Donation
Medical supplies should be sorted by type and placed in separate plastic bags or boxes.
Most medical equipment requires various accessories to function properly. When collecting medical equipment
for donation, please make every effort to find all the accessories and manuals that go with the equipment,
including patient cables and transducers, power cords, recorder paper, spare parts, and operator and
service manuals.
Shipping Your Donation
Global Health Ministries attempts to cover all the costs of equipment refurbishing and
shipping to the mission field. Your assistance with the shipping cost to the Minneapolis warehouse would be
greatly appreciated. If you are unable to pay for this cost, please call and make shipping arrangements
with our Global Health Ministries staff.
